De Paul provides the only residential drug and alcohol treatment available to any young person in northwestern Oregon with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse or addiction, regardless of their ability to pay for services. The De Paul Youth Treatment Center is located next to St. Charles church near NE 42nd and Killingsworth. The De Paul Alternative School and De Paul’s youth outpatient offices are also located on the site.
Treatment at De Paul is strengths-based. It includes individual, group and family counseling, drug and alcohol education and anger and stress management among other components. Services for students with co-occurring mental health disorders are provided. The staff includes a dietitian, a registered nurse and a psychiatric nurse practitioner. The program strives to expand its students’ horizons through exposure to arts and cultural activities, career options and volunteerism. Students earn school credit at the De Paul Alternative School while in treatment.

Youth are given the opportunity to assist in developing the
plan for their treatment and aftercare. De Paul counselors
help clients find medical care, housing and employment
assistance and other services they may need.
Family counseling group sessions are held once a week
and are viewed as an integral part of treatment. Counseling
of individual families is also available.
