Assessments and Referrals
A professional counselor assesses needs in such areas
as chemical dependency, mental health and physical well
being, support systems and others. The counselor may
recommend admission to De Paul’s residential or outpatient
program or suggest other resources to meet the individual’s
needs.
Treatment at De Paul
De Paul uses the Stages of Change treatment model, Motivational
Interviewing & Dialectical Behavior Therapy all of which
have proven effective in countless clinical studies.
We work with our clients to create a fully individualized
treatment plan based on their strengths in key life
areas, their stage of change and stage of recovery.
Services are selected from six major categories:
- Alcohol and drug education and recovery counseling.
- Mental health and emotional well being.
- Support system enhancement, including family education and counseling and parenting skills.
- Life skills and community reintegration, including stress and anger management and independent living skills.
- Health education and self-care.
- Recreation and healthy use of leisure time.
Residential Services
Residential stays are individualized based on the needs
and resources of the client. Stays can vary from 1-9
months, with the average being around 5 months. Services
are gender-specific. Separate living quarters, treatment
groups, meals and recreational activities for men and
women facilitate the in-depth exploration of issues
relevant to recovery.
We offer family counseling and culture-specific groups
in which treatment issues are addressed in the context
of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and/or cognitive
abilities.
Outpatient Services
Genesis, our intensive outpatient stabilization program,
provides case management, individual and group counseling,
as well as assistance with medical, housing and other
needs.
Discovery Program. Intensive out- patient services meet
the needs of clients in the early and middle stages
of recovery.
Continuing care serves those who have successfully completed
residential or intensive outpatient treatment at De
Paul or another treatment program. Family counseling
is available to all clients and their families.
